They are websites that used copyright protected work (books, movies, etc.) as a lure to get people who is trying to download what seems like, for example, a legal copy of a book, and they provide their personal information, bank details, emails, etc.
The purpose of the website is not to provide the actual copy of the book, therefore there is not an actual infringement to copyright, but to obtain personal information that will allow them to get users money.
Tips to recognize them:
– They usually offer to download illimited and free works.
– They offer to download in more than one format.
– Comments on the website are fake.
– When you click to download them, another window opens and requests more information.
