What does “all rights reserved” mean?

Some authors, in order to point out or suggest that their work is protected by copyright, add the symbol © together with the mention of “all rights reserved”. By doing so, any person intending to use that specific work will require the owner’s authorization.

Not the symbol, not the clause is required because it does not guarantee that the work is actually protected.

Authors own economic and moral rights on their creation, as well as reproduction, distribution and transformation. That is what allows them to decide on their work’s exploitation.
