4 Business essentials

To everyone having a business here is a summary of the essentials for need to have in order to have everything legally protected.

– Trademark Registration: After you have decided your business’ name, your programs and/or products (depending on the line of work), you should file the trademark registration in order to protect them and avoid others use the same name.

– Contracts: Having your contracts is a must. Depending on the type of business you have, there are a few to take into account. Most people will need AT LEAST:

a) A Client contract: This will give you clarity and transparency and will show your client how you work, what they should expect from you and vice versa.

b) Independent Contractor’s Agreement: This will help you settle the clauses with those working for you and how they should be working for you in the requested tasks

– Website Protection: You will have a designer or be brave enough to do it yourself. Either way, every business MUST have legal protection. Not having them, or having the wrong documents will leave you unprotected and you may get sued. Note: Not all websites need the same kind of protection and it must reflect exactly how your business works. Again, you need people to know exactly what they will expect from you.

– Copyrights: If you have written a book (yes, eBook too!!), a coaching program, a special blueprint, articles or anything in copyright category, you should definitely consider this category as well. This will show people that you are the owner of your work. The fact that you have written it or that it is shown on your website is not legally enough, since another person may copy YOUR work and make a profit from it.
