Descriptive names do exactly what they say, the name itself is descriptive of the product in some way, its appearance, functionality, etc. These types of names are very weak and they are unregistrable.
Distinctive names are a straightforward concept. They are unique names for a specific product in the market. There are two types of distinctive names, those that are distinctive by their very nature and those that acquire distinctiveness in time.
A distinctive trademark becomes generic when its identity dissociates with the owner and becomes associated only by the product.
