How do I know if the GDPR applies to me?

The General Data Protection Regulation (or “GDPR”) is a set of standards established by the European Union and mandates certain privacy practices.

* It applies to websites that might be collecting or processing the data of users in Europe. This means that if your website’s user is in the EU, GDPR applies. So, you definitely want to make sure your website is in alignment.

* It applies to personal data provided by the user, such us a name, a photo, an email address, bank details, or a computer IP address, etc.

* It provides all users with the following rights:

– To be informed.

– To access.

– To rectification.

– To object.

– To data portability.

– To erasure.

– To restrict processing.

– To not be subjected to a decision when it’s based on automated processing or profiling.

So, make sure your website covers these rights. How? Talk to an attorney and be sure they include this clause on your privacy policy.
