Nowadays, most people want to become an entrepreneur. It can be because they want the extra income or just to quit the 9-5 job and be able to handle their own schedules. Even though we support the decision and it is something to be proud of, starting your own business is not as simple as you think.
Unless it is a group of entrepreneurs and each one has a specific task, all the responsibility will be yours. Therefore, it is convenient that before making mistakes, you look for advice with the correct people: legal, accounting, marketing, design, etc.
First, you have to determine if you are going to sell a product or provide service. Why not both? You have to think about the website, the social media, the branding, the packaging, the trademark.
In order to proceed, you must perform accurate searches. It is always convenient to do it well from the start. You are going to invest money in your future, please do not go the easy way “I’ll just copy paste from the internet”, “I’ll Google it and if I don’t find anything, it means I can go for it”.
Be absolutely sure that the trademark you want to use to identify your business is not being already used for similar products or services, before even promoting yourself with it. You have to do the same research for the domain. Once you are sure they are available, it is the time to register both and start promoting your business. Nobody is rushing you, so it is best to delay everything for a week rather than having regrets in the future because you did not do the correct searches.
Watch out for the new partners that will show up to help you commercialize. We have mentioned this weeks ago, you need an attorney to write down the most suitable contracts to be fully protected.
Evaluate the money you have for advertising, do not overspend. You can start with a simple one, and once you are established, pay for more expensive publicity.
Have a business plan in mind. This will be useful so you do not feel like you do not have time, money or ideas. You should write down ideas for the week, one will be priority. Do not push you, start with one of two things if you do not have extra time. Doing something is much better than doing nothing.
If you are going to have a website, you need to write terms and conditions and privacy policy. Do not think that is as easy as copy paste from a similar business. They need to be adapted to your own business.
